# About Petal Glimmer

A small set of free tools for playing with makeup color.

## What it is

Petal Glimmer helps you plan with color before you buy or swatch anything. You can design an eyeshadow palette shade by shade, build a coordinated look from your eye color or a color you love, work out which way your undertone leans with honest caveats, and compare lipstick shades on ten skin tones.

- [Eyeshadow palette maker](https://petalglimmer.beauty/): layouts from 4 to 20 pans, six finishes, shade names, PNG export and saved palettes.
- [Makeup color palette generator](https://petalglimmer.beauty/makeup-color-palette-generator/): lid, crease, liner, lip and blush shades from color-wheel harmonies, each one explained.
- [Skin undertone quiz](https://petalglimmer.beauty/skin-undertone-quiz/): the common home tests, scored as a lean rather than a verdict.
- [Lipstick swatch board](https://petalglimmer.beauty/lipstick-swatch-board/): shades side by side on the Monk Skin Tone Scale, as arm swatches or lips.

## How it works

Every tool runs in your web browser. Colors are calculated in OKLab, a color space designed so that equal steps look roughly equal, and the palettes, swatches and images are drawn on your device. Photos you open in the look generator or the drape check are read by the page and never uploaded. Palettes and boards you save stay in your browser’s local storage. The [privacy page](https://petalglimmer.beauty/privacy/) lists exactly what is stored and what the site’s hosting sees.

## What it is not

Petal Glimmer does not sell, review or recommend makeup products or brands, and nothing here is sponsored. Screen colors are approximations: real products look different in the pan, on skin and under different light, so treat every result as a starting point to try on. The undertone quiz is about choosing makeup colors and is not medical or skin-care advice.

Where a page relies on research or a published scale, it names it in a Sources section. Color harmony and the “one feature leads” rule are long-standing conventions of color theory and makeup practice, not science, and the pages say so.
